In Cherkasy, Ukraine, time is running out for Leonid, a Jewish father whose story exemplifies our mission that every name tells a story, every soul is a world to save.
While his daughter Inna and granddaughter found safety in Israel at the war's start, Leonid remained behind. Now, facing a severe medical condition, local doctors have given up, sending him home with morphine - essentially to die. But his daughter refuses to accept this fate.
"The Ukrainian hospitals just gave him morphine and told us to wait for the inevitable," Inna says from her home in Petah Tikva. "But I know that with proper medical care in Israel, my father has a chance."
The path to salvation hasn't been simple. A devastating cyber attack paralyzed Ukraine's archives for three weeks, blocking access to crucial documents needed for his consular check. Just two days ago, the systems finally came back online.
Now, Operation Kanfei Emuna is racing against time to arrange medical transport to get Leonid to Beilinson Hospital. Despite his deteriorating condition, Leonid's faith remains unshaken. "I believe in God's help," he tells us in a voice weak but filled with hope.
This isn't just about numbers or statistics. This is about Leonid - a father, a grandfather, a Jewish soul whose name and story matter. Every hour counts in our mission to bring him home.
